Abselion Launches U.S. Subsidiary in Massachusetts

The new location provides a formal base to support further engagement with academic, biotech, and pharma research teams.

Abselion is establishing a U.S. subsidiary at The Engine in Cambridge, Massachusetts. The life sciences technology company, which is based in Cambridge, UK, focuses on simplification of biomolecule quantification. The Engine is an incubator, accelerator, and strategic hub built by the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.

Abselion says the new location strengthens the company’s presence in the life sciences ecosystem in North America. It provides a formal base, according to Abselion, for more direct engagement with academic, biotech, and pharmaceutical research teams.

Why a U.S. Subsidiary?

Company founder and CEO Ruizhi Wang, PhD, said Abselion is focusing on the U.S. for biologics characterization and development workflows.

“Our vision is to make high-quality quantification more accessible through closer international collaboration,” Wang said. “A U.S. subsidiary marks an important milestone in Abselion’s growth, strengthening our ability to operate across key life science markets.”

Wang added that having a formal U.S. presence demonstrates Abselion’s commitment to long-term adoption of its protein qualification systems.

Indeed, as Abselion’s Amperia system draws increasing interest, the Cambridge, Mass. site offers the company an organizational framework. Furthermore, the company says aligning its organizational structure with the geographics of its customer base will permit more effective coordination.

It “will allow our growing international team to work more closely with customers and partners,” Wang said.

The Amperia platform “combines robust engineering, purpose-built assays, and intuitive software,” according to Abselion. The result, the company says, are more rapid and confident results.

In September 2025, Abselion unveiled its AAVX Total Capsid Quantification Kit and AAV9 Total Capsid Quantification Kit. Both of these were designed for use with the Amperia platform.

Concurrently, the company said it had an agreement with Thermo Fisher Scientific to incorporate CaptureSelect affinity reagents into the kits.
